Four months ago, on the coldest day of the year, Emma went into labor and both of our lives changed forever when our son Ezra arrived. At the beginning, it was an all hands on deck moment where we were both just working all day and night to keep Ezra alive as we tried to catch moments of sleep. After a few months off from work focused only on family time, I started adding in travel for clients, emails, meetings, planning, and all the other complications and it’s been so hard but amazingly fun.
It’s been a few months of refinding and redefining my place in the world and exploring everything with him. Ezra and I love taking long walks together, grabbing leaves together, reading board books together, getting our feet dirty together, and anything involving cold water or music.

I’ve learned a lot in the last four months. I’ve learned to find balance as I work to find purpose and direction as I phased in different portions of my life. Athletic pursuits. Friendships. Creative time. Personal projects. Family. Home repairs. Gardening. Baking. Bills. Bike repairs. Bike Party. Cleaning. Pickleball practice. Prehab for running. Planning childcare. Dishes. Volunteering with the Wheelers. Keeping the photo a day running. Throughout it all, Ezra is growing and changing everyday and we are reading up on what’s about to happen and how to prepare. Experienced parents keep saying things like “Don’t blink” or “just wait until…” which is just a lot of pressure so I think we are taking more of a “Just keep swimming approach”.

I can’t wait to see what the next few weeks and months together will bring.
